Description
Vivian Maier worked as a nanny in Chicago and New York from the 1950s through the 1990s and shot roughly 150,000 photographs that nobody saw until John Maloof bought a box of her negatives at a Chicago auction in 2007. She died in 2009 with the discovery just underway; the posthumous reputation is now among the most secure in twentieth-century American photography.
